David Wood of the ROD SHOP in Monroe NC:
"... I have been in the reel repair business for 8 years and SALT-X
is the only product that I have found that will EFFECTIVELY remove
salt from reels without harming decals, lubricants, finishes, etc.
Using fresh water to rinse reels will NOT remove salt, but add
SALT-X to that rinse water and the difference is unbelievable!!...
As I told you, fishermen don't understand that being in a boat that
is splashing through the water, combined with the wind, causes salt
water to get into every crack and crevice on a reel....standing on
the beach or a pier will have the same results. When the water
dries, salt crystals remain and will build up. This build up can
cause a reel to work improperly and even cause reel failure!!! What
a horrible way to lose a fish!!! ...a simple spraying of SALT-X will
reduce this build up to a minimum!! I highly recommend SALT-X ...and
tell my customers that they can pay me $13.00 for a bottle of SALT-X
now or they can pay me an average of $80.00 to repair their
reels..."pay me now or you can pay me later", I tell them....."

This picture is of a Penn reel was taken at approximately 9:00am on
February 21, 1992, at the ROD SHOP in Monroe, NC. The reel on the
left was wiped down with a paper towel. SALT-X was mixed at a 1-16
dilution ratio (our normal dilution ratio is 1-64). Due to no
preventative maintenance being performed , other than rinsing with
fresh water, since the last time the reel was serviced
(approximately 1 year). This is called CATCH UP maintenance. Had
preventative maintenance been done using SALT-X, the amount of rust
and salt buildup would have been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced!!!, making
regular service quicker and less expensive!!! The reel on the right
is the same one as reel on the left but it was taken approximately
10 minutes later.
Roger Blair of Merritt Island FL:
"...I have been using SALT-X for about 5 years and flush my engine
after each use. I recently sold my 1985 Johnson 235....when the new
owner had the engine inspected by a local mechanic, the mechanic was
very surprised by the lack of salt deposits in the engine block...I
keep a 5 gallon bucket with 1 gallon of SALT-X mixture on board my
boat to soak all my lures and leaders in after their use in
saltwater. I also rinse my hands to remove the slick saltwater film
and eliminate the transfer of salt to delicate electronics and other
hardware while fishing offshore....."
Don Hubbard of Charlotte NC:
"...I see you do it and I still can't believe it. 4 1/2 years of
salt and trapped dirt accumulation gone instantly with one rinsing
with SALT-X. This, after hand scrubbing and washing with a pressure
spray car wash. Soap and water didn't remove the salt , but SALT-X
did!!!...SALT-X is also great for winterizing my motor, boat, and
trailer along with all my other fishing gear"
Ed Lahey of Boston MA:
"...Incredible!!! SALT-X not only removes salt instantly, but it
only takes me a third of the time to hose off my 36 foot Sea
Ray!!!!...."
Maintenance Officer, USMC, Camp Lejeune, NC:
"...While attached to the 26th MEU, the maintenance chief ordered
SALT-X in order to control corrosion while embarked. Our equipment
was loaded onto Landing Craft Cushioned (LCAC) and the subsequent
rides were known to cause significant damage to equipment. After
rinsing with SALT-X, the difference was readily apparent. The salt
film that had previously appeared was no longer visible, and rust
was much slower to accumulate. The corrosion difficulties became
defeatable and in fact defeated...SALT-X did indeed do everything
that it was designed to do and we need it to become part of our
inventory...You will literally save us millions!!!..."
Joel Peterson, Civilian, US Coast Guard Station, Woods Hole, MA:
"...I received an award plus a cash bonus for saving a $19,995.00
piece of equipment that was ready to be written off and replaced
after Hurricane Bob ravaged our facility. During slack time, I
dismantled the equipment and cleaned it with SALT-X. 40 hours and
approximately $25.00 worth of SALT-X later, the equipment was back
up and running. Only minor lens adjustments (which I was not
qualified to do) were needed...
Ron Windham, Engineering Design & Testing Corp., Columbia, SC:
"...In accordance with accepted laboratory procedures, testing on
monofilament fishing line with SALT-X used at various strengths
showed that even straight SALT-X has no adverse effect on
monofilament line...in fact...fresh water has a more damaging effect
on monofilament line than SALT-X..."
Glenn and Janice Sutow, Kona, Hawaii:
"...Living in HI with its tropical climate and what appears to be
saltier saltwater, its corrosive actions are far more significant.
Using your SALT-X over the past year has stopped or reduced the
corrosive effects, that was once assumed a part of living near the
ocean. SALT-X has been fantastic on my Boston Whaler...the running
lights in their aluminum casting were encrusted with a white scale
which is now gone. The teak has been bleeding salt out of the grain
and has a near new finish again. My fishing rod guides and Penn
International reels look like new without the fear of removing oil
and grease from vital parts. The terminal tackle has remained
corrosion free, which is most noticeable on the cadmium plated big
game hooks..."
II MEF Officer At Marine EXPO '95, USMC, Camp Lejeune, NC:
"...2 of the last 3 MEU's that went out did not take SALT-X with
them. Between the two of them, they had to trash over $1,500,000.00
in equipment when they returned. The last MEU that went out, took
SALT-X with them and they lost less than $40,000.00 in equipment,
using $1,500.00 worth of SALT-X..."

"...John, when we first brought SALT-X into the store, we had to do
some talking to get our customers to try it. NOW, however, when we
have a new customer in the store and they are looking at the SALT-X
display, and a user of SALT-X is in the store, they will walk over
and tell the person, "If you're not using SALT-X, you need to get
some", and then proceed to tell that person about what SALT-X has
done for them! Our customers are now selling SALT-X for us! We have
one customer in particular who owns a 45 foot Hatteras and swears by
SALT-X. Before going on a 4-5 day trip, he rinses his Hatteras with
SALT-X. He says that this makes his SALT-X rinse down easier when he
returns from a long trip..."

"...Hi,
Just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that your
kindness is greatly appreciated! I called yesterday and spoke with
one of your employees and he was kind & understanding of my request
to check on my order! Not only did he check on the order but he
called me back immediately to let me know that it would be shipped
and I would have it before my trip to Nova Scotia Canada! We are
currently having a big ice storm here and they are now SALTING all
the roads. I am sure that your product will help to protect my
vehicles once I am able to apply it! Again many thanks and please
let the employee who helped me know that his efforts did not go
unappreciated!
Happy Holidays..."

"...Thank you, I
believe you have saved me quite a bit of money.
Briefly; my 11 year
old Merc 3.3 HP used as dinghy outboard on an inflatable gets
used only 10-12 days a year, then flushed in fresh water and put
away. Still, in spite of light use and what I thought was
decent maintenance it ran hotter and hotter every year until
this year I was afraid to run it for more than a few minutes;
water stream from visual sight was hot, scalding hot and motor
cover by spark plug really HOT. So we rowed and begged tows
from people around Rhode Island and Block Island this
vacation. After the long row back from the beach you're ready
to... go to the beach and cool off.
One mechanic
suggested acid flush, but frankly I was afraid to do it with
everything I've read about Muriatic acid, problems of disposal,
etc. In searching around the Web for alternatives I came across
Practical Sailor's reference to Salt-X. I'm a thorough
skeptic and my attitude about the Web is nearly everything on it
is scam but for $13.00 I thought what the hell, I'll try it.
Last week August 11,
2008 or thereabouts UPS delivered my quart, and that
afternoon I mixed per directions in a garbage pail, ran the
motor for a few minutes and ....no heat problem - gone, running
as cools as the day I bought it. To make certainty more sure
I ran it in the same solution next day for about 30 minutes.
No heat problem, water stream from visual sight was cool to the
touch for 10-15 minutes until water in garbage pail warmed up
from exhaust and water became tepid.
This is either the
world's greatest coincidence or your product actually does what
you say it will; I'm guessing it's the latter so thanks again.
Feel free to cite me
as a reference. I'd prefer if my email wasn't distributed for
the world to see but on request I'd be happy to tell what I
know..."
